He is currently a senior lecturer in the Department of Pharmacognosy and Drug Development, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kaduna State University (KASU). He holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm), M. Sc and Ph.D in Pharmacognosy from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. He has taught undergraduate students in Pharmacy, Nursing, Midwifery, Community Health, Physiotherapy, Dentistry, and Social Rehabilitation. My research interests include the development of plant-derived anticancer agents, phytochemistry, and traditional medicine, with a strong focus on modernizing traditional medical practices and advancing pharmaceutical care to align with global standards and meet societal healthcare needs. Dr. Uwaisu has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and has participated in both international and local conferences. In 2024, he was awarded the TETFund Institutional-Based Research (IBR) grant for a project on developing an anticancer drug from a native herb. He has served as acting examination officer, acting head, and substantive head of department. Recently, he was appointed by the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) as a member of the National Technical/Mirror Committee on African Traditional Medicine.
