Dr. Vitalis Ikenna Chukwuike is a highly motivated chemist with research interest is in the area of orthopedic metal implant corrosion and bone regeneration. His research interest equally extended to nanomaterials, nanocomposite, inorganic material synthesis, and hydroxyapatite coatings for biomedical applications. Vitalis is an alumnus of the University of Jos and had his master degree at the University of Port Harcourt. He proceeded to India for further training when he was awarded the prestigious UNESCO grant fellowship to carry out his Ph.D at the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research under the World Academy of Science (TWAS), 2016.

He operates advanced analytical instruments such as XRD, FE-SEM, SEM, UV-Visible, FT-IR, nanoindentation, potentiostat and laser Raman. He has published 34 articles and 7 book chapters in reputable high impact factor journals. He has presented his work at several local and international conferences that worn him three awards, the most recent is the Best Paper Award by the Royal Society of Chemistry, Uk, 2020. Upon his return from India, he has assisted in the procurement and installation of an analytical instrument (potentiostat, PGSTAT 204 model, from Netherland to the Africa Center of Excellence in Oilfield Chemical Research, University of Port Harcourt, financially sponsored by The World Bank, in the year 2022. He is a member of the American chemical society (ACS), Chemical society of Nigeria (CSN), National Association of corrosion engineers (NACE USA) and Institute of chattered chemist of Nigeria (ICCON). Dr. Vitalis is a topnotch academic trainer, facilitator, mentor and consultant. He likes creative thinking and plays table tennis at his leisure time.
