Dr Adekunle Gregory Fakunle is an Environmental Epidemiologist and a lecturer at the Department of Public Health, Osun State University, Osogbo, Nigeria. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Health (Environmental Health) from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria and a PhD in Occupational and Environmental Health from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa. He is a Fellow of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) and a visiting scholar at the Institute of Risk Assessment Science (IRAS), Utrecht University, The Netherlands. Dr Fakunle has several awards to his name including the American Society for Human Genetics (ASHG’s) Resource Limited Award, the World Stroke Congress (WSC) Young Investigator Award, the H3Africa Travel Fellowship and so on.
His expertise is in environmental epidemiology with focus on exposure science, housing and health, air pollution, and air quality. Dr Fakunle is the Co-Principal Investigator for the CARDINAL project which was supported by the World Heart Federation (WHF). He has several publications in high-impact journals with over 1000 citations and a Google Scholar h-index of 16. His career goal is to contribute significantly to reducing exposure to air pollution, improving cleaner air and mitigating the escalating burden of respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.
